About Reiki:

Reiki is a gentle system of healing that was developed in Japan in the late nineteenth century. It is offered by the NHS in some areas of the UK as well as many therapy centres as a complementary therapy to facilitate the body's ability to heal the mind, body and spirit.

During treatments, healing energy is channelled through the practitioner to the client, helping the body heal itself emotionally and physically, while also promoting clarity of thought and addressing life's challenges.

Reiki practitioners can channel Reiki over distance, with their hands above the body or by gently resting their hands on the body.

During your distant Reiki treatment:

Your distant Reiki session will begin with a 5-10 minute conversation to help you relax and prepare for the treatment.

During the treatment, you can relax in the comfort of your own home (while listening to your choice of relaxing music if you wish). You can sit or lie down, whichever is the most comfortable for you and helps you to relax.

You are welcome to keep your phone or computer on and talk about your experience of Reiki during your treatment, ask questions, or turn your phone or computer off. Most people prefer to completely relax.

Being open to receiving Reiki will help the energy flow. You may appreciate blankets and/or pillows to enhance your comfort and relaxation, as they will help keep you warm while you unwind. Additionally, focusing on your breathing can help you relax and further enhance the benefits of Reiki.

If you fall asleep, you will still benefit from the Reiki, so feel free to make yourself as comfortable as you wish.

Important:

Remember to have water ready to drink when you are ready to move about again. It is advisable to increase your water intake over the next few days to help facilitate the detoxification process.

Please take your time when mobilising after the Reiki treatment, and delay tasks such as driving until you feel fully mobile. It is a good idea to take it easy for the rest of the day (and the next few days).

Some people experience sensations and/or the release of held tension in their body during or after a Reiki treatment. This is an energy shift that some people refer to as a ‘healing crisis’. This is a completely natural occurrence, indicating that Reiki is positively facilitating your body’s healing process.
